The Basics of Intellectual Property: Copyrights, Trademarks, and Patents Feature Articles Although I am well versed in the area of intellectual property (IP), it has come to my attention that many are not. This can be a problem when individuals are concerned with protecting their rights, and when trying to avoid infringing the rights of others. This article is meant to be a very brief overview of what each of the three main areas of IP law deals with. Copyrights, Trademarks, and Patents are each a huge body of law on their own. In addition to the basic rules, there are numerous sub-rules, and exceptions.

Sinn Now Places Impressive Diapal Technology In 757 UTC Watch Series Watch Buying When you consider what goes on inside of a watch movement, it is impressive that they even work at all. I mean really, have you ever considered the delicate dance of components harmonically beating and gyrating to the rhythm of the balance wheel which must maintain a strenuously high level of consistency? To think such sophistication was birthed so long ago, and yet only now serious improvement are being made.

From a design standpoint, the Nomos watches are pure functional minimalism with Bauhaus inspiration. Pictures above is the new Nomos Tangente watches which are manual watches with an in house movement. The color combinations and symmetry are next to perfect. Other models are similar and Nomos also makes in-house automatic movements as mentioned above. Nomos watches can be appreciated for their simple Bauhaus designs, but the real appreciation comes in knowing Nomos watches contain house-made movements are are in the inexpensive 00 range. Worlds apart form other in-house movement watch makers. nomos-glashutte.com

There is a good deal to say about the Temption CGK203, much of which has been said in other reviews. I am going to attempt to discuss what I believe is salient and important to my ownership experience, as I do own one of these. Temption is a small German maker with only one distributor in US which is WatchBuys. Otherwise, one essentially has to get them from the factory or in Europe. Like most small makers, Temption does not make it's own movements. Instead it creates the cases and everything else other than the movement. Until they stop making them (ETA will cease selling movements to outside makers in 2010), ETA provides most if not all the movements that Temption uses. This one features a Valjoux 7751, which ETA owns.

I've written about Sinn watches before, and in particular, their commitment to innovative engineering. Now it looks like they have outdone themselves once again with a new dive chronograph. Meet the Sinn U1000, a mechanical watch waterproof to 1,000 meters (3,300 feet), and available in either steel or PVD black.

Expect the transition to be relatively smooth, but don't expect too many sales prices. It is unclear the effect this will have on online sales as well. Tag Heuer and Zenith are notorious for sticking with "authorized dealers." Production of Hublot watches is likely to increase, but availability online is probably not. This of course doesn't change the bounty on eBay, thankfully.

Some watch websites are better than others, but still there is a general lack of cohesion among them. The best you'll see are watch websites linking to each other, and mention each other's content. There is no one source for content, nor is there any universal manner of reviewing watch. Which brings up another important point. Watch reviews are plentiful if you know where to look, but getting the right information can be very difficult. I applaud the dedicated individuals who take the time to review watches. For the most part this is a grass roots effort based upon watches that people buy. When reviewing watches, there is no universal way of doing so, nor is there a list of criteria to go over. If you are lucky enough to find a watch review on the watch you want, you are luckier still if the review tells you what you need to know. The closest example of universalized watch reviews are those coming from some of the watch magazines such as WatchTime, InSync, and International Watch. The problem however, is that they review only a handful of watches, which are usually very highly priced, and the review often don't touch upon the issues which are important to most watch owners. I am as interested as the next person in the minute details of a watch movement's inner mechanisms, but I don't want 70% of a watch review discussing it.

Of great importance is the watch's movement. Yes this is a quartz watch. This is going to be a turn off for some people, but hear me out. While I prefer an automatic movement, there are numerous trade offs to having a mechanical watch. First, mechanical watches require more maintenance, and most importantly, they are far less accurate than quartz watches. At first I wished my Tag Heuer was an automatic model, but I slowly began to appreciate its high quality quartz movement. My Tag Heuer serves as the "I cannot decide which watch to wear today watch." It goes with almost any outfit. Always handsome, never out of place, and I always know people are going to like the watch. No one is going to ever ask me, "is that a Tag Heuer" you are wearing because they are not rare watch, but no one will dispute that it was a bad choice to own. Because my Tag Heuer Link has a quartz movement, I know I can pick it up anytime and it will be totally accurate. I never have to worry about adjusting the time, this is a rock-solidly reliable and accurate watch; and I love that about it.

Updated Style Marcello C Nettuno 3 For Sale On eBay: Auction Ends Nov-20-07 01:10:27 PST Sales & Auctions I love when Marcello C watches show up on eBay, it is such a rare treat, and an opportunity to own a truly satisfying watch. The Marcello C Nettuno 3 is uncommon watch as it is relatively inexpensive but enjoys a very high level of quality. The only other watch to compare it to is the Rolex Submariner. Each have the same features, and arguably, the Marcello C Nettuno is more comfortable on the wrist. I have a Marcello C Nettuno 3, actually two of them. They are perfect watches for everyday wear, that are stylish, and very handsome.

In terms of repair and restoration, here are the major things that IWW will get done for you. First is movement restoration. This when you have an old, or non-functioning movement that need to work again. Or it could be partially functioning and just need a "tune-up." The complexity and cost of movement restoration really varies depending on a lot of things. So be patient with anyone when you have a rare watch, or one that needs lots of work. Remember how hard it can be to get parts for anyone no matter how good they are. You can also have case and dial restoration. Polishing, fixing, mending, buffing, and painting are all things available based on what you need. They will also reluminate or place extra luminant on watch hands and faces for a restored glow, or extra glow in the dark.

Well new ground has been broken, and I would pay good money to learn the buttering up process involved in getting George Clooney to adorn a watch maker's monocle (called a loupe) and lab coat for this photo shoot. Good thing Clooney looks perplexed in this shot, because while I am sure he owns a few Omega watches, he has never had any experience making them or working on them. Imagine the cajoling required to get him to wear this outfit. "Great shots of the De Ville Mr. Clooney, now put this on your face like so... and wear this coat. Lets try it again. Aren't WE looking technical Mr. Clooney?"

Aside from the bezel design, the watches have many small differences. From the case design, and other little details. Because watch "flattery" is so common, It would not surprise me if someone was copying someone else. Though again, it is possible this was the result of a partnership between Tiffany & Co. and NauticFish, or Enzo Mechana.

Mido has a ton of history, and is now part of the Swatch Group. The brand is more popular in Asia, but can be found in the states as well. One of the brands most popular watches is the Mido Commander series, which has an incredibly 1950's look that is somewhere between classy and avant-garde.

The Junghans Aviator Chronograph is available with a leather strap or steel bracelet. Size is 42.5mm wide. The face is sapphire crystal, and the bezel is nicely tuned to be functional but not a copy of the Breitling. Junghans character abounds in this watch, and I believe it is an excellent direction from the atomic watch experts. Junghans is one of those companies that has been around for a very long time and know how to make a solid and well built watch, using the latest technology (they were one of the firsts to utilize carbon fiber in their watches). Here they begin to flex their design muscles and enter a new realm of interesting and useful watch products. Expect pricing to be reasonable and I am guess about 00 or less.

Zenith Watches: From Movement Maker To Outstanding Manufacture Feature Articles
My choice for a Zenith watch, is the Defy Open Xtreme, which comes in various materials and color schemes. For going all out, my pick is the black titanium with gold and carbon fiber accents. Prices for Zenith watches, while on the mid to high level, and very fair when compared with other manufacture makers such as Patek Philippe, Breguet, and Vacheron Constantin. A Zenith watch is sure to become part of my collection as soon as possible.

Replica Patek Philippe Pocket Watches

Vulcain has been around a while, and are most known for their Cricket watches, and V-10 mechanical alarm movement. Which apparently has a very audible mechanical alarm. While an alarm may seem a simple complication, getting a good sound out of a mechanical movement is tough. Most of us are used to beeping Casio watches. While an alarm is very useful to some people, Vulcain makes some far fetched claims about the audibility of the alarm underwater. Really Vulcain? You expect a diver in full suit to hear this alarm during a dive? Really? Still, the alarm is said to last for 15-20 seconds. If it is loud enough to be heard underwater, I would not want to be the guy whose Vulcain Cricket goes off in a meeting (oh, now I get the Cricket name!). The alarm itself seems simple to set (using the center alarm time ring), but not particularly accurate. Seems like you can get withing a 2-3 minute range of when you want it to go off. The watch is rated for 100 meters. Clearly not extreme. While this rating is ok for light swimming and snorkeling, this is not the rating needed for a serious dive watch. Further, the watch is not an automatic, but manually wound. Hardly extreme. Hardly, Vulcain...

Nevertheless, it is a beautiful watch, and I am still enamored with the Citizen Campanola line of watches. Have no doubts that other Citizen Campanolas will come into my ownership in the future.

I recently learned that Citizen has added several new GMT models to their Attesa line of high-end quartz watches. I was particularly struck by the unique, stark, and tough look of the Attesa ATD53-2903. Of course, as is typical of most of the coolest Japanese watches, it's only available in Asia, but since watches know no borders, I was still able to find plenty of information...

The whole concept of the MacBook Air fits in perfects with Apple's isolationist mantra. Why are there no connectors on the MacBook Air? So that Apple can control all that comes in and goes out. By limiting third party software usage, Apple can ensure maximum "loyalty" to their product. Steve Jobs is not even sly about this, during his speeches he regularly states, "we want everyone using/doing this." The MacBook Air is another example Apple's efforts to corral its audience into a regime of further exclusive suckling at Apple's ever watchful and un-nurturing tit. Thus if you want to add anything into the Apple MacBook Air, you have to do it through Apple's preferred means.
